Stancer, born from Iliad Group's vision, aimed to streamline payment processing for SMEs. They set out to create transparent, user-friendly solutions for in-store and online transactions, focusing on clear pricing and reliable service. Their goal: make payments easier for small businesses everywhere.

The goal was to create a foundational offering that encapsulates the core functionalities necessary for SMEs to efficiently process payments, whether in a physical store or through an e-commerce platform. This involves developing two key service offerings:

  • Proximity Offering: Providing merchants with payment terminals for in-store transactions.
  • E-commerce Offering: Supplying an API for online transactions, accompanied by integration tools.

The target for this MVP was primarily TPEs/PMEs within the commerce and e-commerce sectors, focusing on delivering value through:

  • Competitive Pricing
  • Reliability
  • Comprehensive Documentation & Support

Achieving this objective required a methodical approach, starting with an audit to pinpoint the most crucial features for the MVP and continuing through ideation and design phases to ensure the product not only meets market needs but also aligns with Stancer's commitment to simplicity and transparency.

We teamed up with Stancer to build an MVP that hits the mark for SMEs, focusing on transparent and straightforward payment services.

Understanding SMEs: a user-centric approach to payment solutions

This phase enabled us to better define the scope of the ideation. In order to do this, we :

  • Diagnose the existing situation to highlight the biggest projects for the MVP
  • Hold in-depth discussions with the customer
  • Organise detailed user research to understand the real needs of SMEs, the main features of their current payment provider, the triggers that led them to choose another administration solution provider…

We prioritised the projects and analysed the existing situation to ensure that the ideation was as exploratory as possible, to ensure the best product market fit.

At the conclusion of this work, we selected 3 key topics:

  • The registration flow
  • The onboarding
  • The dashboard (home page)

Why these choices? First and foremost, the Stancer team wanted to strengthen its MVP, without developing new functionalities, and focus on conversion.

Refining user experience: Mozza and Stancer's iterative design approach

Working with the Stancer team, we came up with solutions to address the issues raised during the audit. To do this, we :

  • Conducted a benchmark of direct and indirect competitors (payment and banking players), with a focus on UX.
  • Materialised these avenues via mock-ups

The aim was to identify a direction for each initiative to be forwarded to the UX team. Through iterative design and testing, we ensured Stancer's platform was ready to meet the needs of small businesses, making their payment processes easier than ever.
